Your budget first covers a simple, single-platform app (the same baseline as the app cost calculator). Whatever's left gets filled with the cheapest available features first, so you see the most you could plausibly add — not a recommendation of which features matter most for your specific product. Why does this only work from a "simple" base app?
An MVP is, by definition, the smallest version worth shipping — this tool assumes that starting point and shows what you can add on top of it within budget. For a more complex base, use the app cost calculator directly.
How does it decide which features fit?
It fills your remaining budget with the cheapest features first, so you see the most you could plausibly get — not a specific recommended feature set. Which features actually matter for your MVP is still your call.
What if nothing fits?
If your budget doesn't cover even a minimal single-platform app, the calculator says so directly rather than forcing a number — narrowing the platform or scope further, or phasing the build, are the usual next steps.
